Fabrication of Welded Structures in Dubai: From Drawing to Finished Product
A welded metal structure is a product assembled from individual steel parts joined together by welding. Unlike cast or riveted structures, welded joints are lighter, stronger and require less metal for the same load bearing capacity. In Dubai, welded structures are used everywhere: frames of warehouses and hangars, supports for billboards, brackets for facade signs, equipment platforms, gantries, staircases, canopies and awnings. The main types of welded products on the UAE market include trusses, frames, beams, columns, base plates, embedded parts and spatial frameworks. Each type is calculated and welded for a specific load and operating condition.
What welded structures we make
A truss is a lattice structure made from tubes or profiles that works in bending and compression. Trusses are used to span large distances of up to thirty metres without intermediate supports. A frame is a closed loop of beams and posts, most often for building frames or lifting equipment. A beam is a linear element that works in bending. A column is a vertical post that transfers load from the floor slab to the foundation. A base plate is a plate with stiffening ribs on which a column or beam rests. An embedded part is a plate with anchors that is cast into concrete and serves as a fixing point for other structures. An awning or canopy is a light welded frame with roofing material.
What we weld from and what sizes
For welded structures we use hot rolled structural steel in the form of hollow profile tubes, angles, channels, I-beams and sheet metal. Hollow profile tubes come in square sections from twenty by twenty to two hundred by two hundred millimetres and rectangular sections with aspect ratios from two to one. Wall thickness of the tube ranges from one and a half to ten millimetres. Angle bars are used with leg lengths from twenty five to one hundred millimetres. Channels and I-beams range from one hundred to three hundred millimetres in height. Sheet metal thickness ranges from two to twenty millimetres. The length of a finished product can range from a few centimetres to twelve metres. The weight of each structure is calculated individually from the drawing.
How we design
If you have a drawing in DXF, PDF or STEP format, we weld exactly to it. If there is no drawing, you describe the task: what span to cover, what weight to support, where to install. Our engineers calculate the cross section of each element, the connection points and the fixing points to the substrate. The calculation takes into account three things: the self weight of the structure, the live load from people or equipment and the wind load according to the Dubai wind map. After the calculation, you receive a drawing for approval. If no corrections are needed, we start cutting the metal.
How fabrication happens
Cutting of sheet and profile is performed on a band saw or CNC plasma cutter. Length tolerance is plus or minus one millimetre. The parts are then assembled on a jig in the design position. Parts are fixed before welding using clamps or tack welds. Welding is performed in a carbon dioxide atmosphere using a semi automatic welder. The welding mode is selected for the metal thickness. All welds are cleaned of slag and spatter. Each weld undergoes visual inspection. On complex or highly loaded joints, selective ultrasonic inspection is performed. The finished structure is checked for geometry: lengths, widths, diagonals and right angles. If there is a deviation beyond the tolerance, the product is straightened on a press table or sent for rework.
Corrosion protection
After welding and inspection, the structure undergoes sandblasting. This removes mill scale, rust and weld marks. Then primer is applied in one or two layers. The finishing coat is powder coating or liquid enamel according to the client's choice. For outdoor structures, resistance to ultraviolet radiation and temperature variations is mandatory. For indoor structures, primer and one coat of paint is sufficient. If the structure will operate in an aggressive environment or in a high humidity zone, we offer hot dip galvanising.
Who needs this
Contractors building warehouse hangars in Jebel Ali and Dubai Industrial Park. Manufacturing companies needing equipment platforms or gantries. Advertising agencies ordering supports and frames for billboards. Private clients needing a canopy for a villa or an awning over an entrance. If you have a drawing, we review it and provide the price and delivery time on the same day. If there is no drawing, you describe the task and we perform the calculation and provide a concept drawing.
What to know before ordering
Minimum order is fifty kilograms of finished structure weight or one single product if it is large. Fabrication lead time starts from three working days for simple products and from seven days for complex trusses and frames. Delivery across Dubai is included in the price for orders above three hundred kilograms. Installation on site is ordered separately, but we can perform it with our own team. Before starting welding, we require an approved drawing or a signed concept drawing. Without a drawing, metal cutting does not begin.
How we stand behind quality
Each structure comes with a mill certificate for the steel. For all load bearing welds, a visual and ultrasonic inspection report is prepared. We keep on file at our workshop photographs of each structure before painting, with measurements and weld markings. If a dimensional or geometric discrepancy is found during installation, we transport the structure back to the workshop for correction at our own expense. This happens rarely, but the rule applies.
When you should order from us
If you need a welded structure to a drawing, not a "copy of what the neighbour has". If you do not want to pay a middleman between you and the factory. If you are willing to wait seven days instead of three but receive a product with weld inspection and a certificate. The budget for a simple welded frame made from hollow profile tube measuring one metre by one metre starts from eight hundred dirhams. The price is always individual and depends on the metal weight and the complexity of the joints.
How to start
Call or send a message on WhatsApp. Send a drawing in any format or provide dimensions and describe the task. In return, you will receive a cost calculation, a fabrication timeline and a completion date. Once approved, we start cutting metal within twenty four hours. You can collect the finished structure yourself or order delivery. We can also install on site upon separate request.
